I don't think it's gonna work as your yard is too small so you just need to donate all your equiptment to me. I'll give it a good home!! ;)

Oh, poop. I did

Andy, Nice layout and expansion project. Modern diesels are cool…one of the guys in our club is into them. He’ll run as many cars as he can get on the layout…makes quiet a sight. If you need rain I’ll send you some of ours from PA…It seems like I’m cutting grass 3 times a week!!! Dave

Dave Funk, Thanks for the coments and rain offer, but we have been trying to get rid of the rain, tha’s why we are sending it all east…

And we do appreciate that Andy. Ya noticed how green everything is in my pictures, including the dirt and the wood ???

your welcome, Jon… everytime it rains out here now, there’s creek floods, because the ground is totally saturated…

Well, the heat broke last night, and the humidity dropped, so was time to work outside again… Below are pictures of the south wall being built in the Sparta Cut under the Hilltop Subdivision… These shots were at 5 pm, Sunday…

What takes the most time, is shoveling the rock into the retaining wall bricks, and putting in the drain hose behind the wall and covering it in rock and ground cover material, so the dirt doesn’t clog up the hose… It’s good to be able to get outside and work on it again, considering the temperatures the past 3 weeks, along with the humidity…

Now that’s the way to move dirt … ooh, my aching 62-year-old back :frowning: Got some vacation coming up. Let’s hope for a dry day or four (or ten) therein … Not that my ambitions encompass anything like the Bluestone Southern.

Chris, the tractor works great, moving materials and doing most of the big work, however, it’s not very good in tight spaces, and all the finish work needs to be hand done…

Your outta control !!!
I hope your soldering all your rail joints!

Andy your going to have to put a power outlet half way so you can stop and recharge your batts.

Looking good.

Soldering??? Why??? it’ll all be battery or love steam, outside…

ty, geoff…

Andy, that’s some serious construction, and layout building you got going there??? Keep the (I’m sure") hard work. Make sure you post more pics or finished ones. The Regal

I love steam too !!!

Maybe Geoff was thinking you need to solder the butt-joints to give you a welded rail effect. Can’t have any clickety-clack on a modern RR

I saw a jig in this months GR for doing just that. Takes expansion problems to a whole new level.

When you done with teh Kabota you can send it out East !

Looking good.

Jerry, this project will take a while… I have a ten year plan, The wife wants to make it into a 2 year plan… I think she actually wants the railroad all to herself…

Jon, sorry, but the Kabota stays here…

For me, it’s been a workhorse… I get a lot of my fill dirt for behind the walls, by taking out a hill on the east side of the property, where I/we want the pond to go… Not to mention, it’s done all the grading and landscaping around the house and the driveways…

And, I meant live steam up there… I like watching the live steamers run, but I really don’t want all the hassle of getting them fired up, burning my fingers, carrying fuel, water, etc, etc… Let me just plug in a battery, and fire up the “revolution”" and run/operate…

Andy,

That’s going to be one nice layout, wish I had more room.

I have a question?? Hand raised!! Did you bury Doug Arnold in that wall? If so and it was an accident we understand your not getting any younger but would someone please go dig him out ! It sure looks like his lid? How are you joining all that track Andy? You are so gonna need a mig

David,

The wife decided she wanted to feel the ““Burn””, sun burn on her neck, so she took her hat off…

Track is mostly aristo trackage, and is joined with the aristo rail joiners and screws… Switches are installed using rail clamps, so they can be easily removed, if the need repair/replacement…

Your right, I will need a mig, but not at the moment, as i need the money for other things at the moment…

You lost me on the ““hand raised”” thingy…

Don, I hope it will be as nice, as I have invisioned it, when it’s mostly complete… thx…

Hey Andy —

Didja know that the Phillips screw Aristo uses to hold the ties on is the same thread as the little cap screw on the joiners ?

Even though they are a bit too long, I find them easier to use outdoors than the cap screws. Since I had a bunch left over from making curves, I’ve used them at most every joint outdoors.

Track power has been reliable on my rails through the stock joiners for over 5 years. I know you plan on running battery, but just in case you want to feed 220V through the rails to discourage the varmints, it’s nice to know the joiners will conduct it (but I’m not so sure the ties will insulate it  )
