Hi all. Is anyone using Bluerail DCC by Tam Valley? I have a DCC equipped Piko locomotive that I am looking to convert to remote controlled battery power using a power tool battery in a trailing car. I’m aware of alternatives such as Airwire Convertr and Revolution but specifically looking for user feedback in regard to the Tam Valley product. Cheers, Bill
I am. I use Bluerail with an ESU decoder in a Bachmann LS Consolidation. I control it with my Android smartphone. Easy setup, similar to the soundtraxx Blunami. The difference is that you need to change CVs using the CV section of the app or use the ESU programmer.
Welcome Bill. I have nothing to add about Tam Valley but can offer this.
If your railroad is “rondy-round” you will probably be happy with phone based systems, but if you plan on switching operations, you may find the phone interface less than ideal.
I beta tested a system that used a phone or tablet as a controller and was unhappy with the lack of tactile feedback from the phone. I even tried using hot glue to mark control locations on my tablet screen and even that didn’t solve my problem.
I also like knobs Vs. buttons for throttle control.
