When will you be able to talk/control to the trains from that speaker some have attached to there ear! (Larry Otis)

Well lets see. If we route the output from the ear thingy in to Dragon, Then have the computer “read” what Dragon typed, and it types what you say. Then we have the computer execute commands from what it read… Someone proficient in Java could probably do it now.

There’s always someone out there trying to build a better mouse trap… Who knows what will be happening next???

Sure derailed the thread, didn’t I, Bob… Sigh…

Stan, and then there are those out there like me. Still running analog DC with relay controlled blocks. But I do use a TE for the analog power control. I think its one of my best investments.

I’m the same one TE for each loop! And I still have a flip phone!

And I still have a flip phone!

Wish I did. These darn “smart phones” are always having me ask “what are they are doing now?” And then I keep having to figure out how to undo what they did do, just to torque me off.

Yeah, David… I understand… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it… The old TE’s are still running (assuming it’s the 27 Mhz) but when they die, there just ain’t no way to get 'em fixed.

I have a friend here in Prescott that’s running 3 of them on his HO layout… (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)He’s always looking for TX’s and RX’s to keep it going. They’re getting very hard to find…

Some people also use the BlueRail boards to run DC trains:

Stan,

The thread is idling around other aspects while we await further information from the originator.

Guess I should’a known that when the originator of the thread posted… “I wont have this in a locomotive for a couple of weeks” {snip}

Sigh… (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I emailed BlueRail (from their website) about the ability to build consists (since I didn’t see any mention), they responded within a couple hours and said they are working on consists and it should be out in a couple months.

Pretty good response time for a new company.

Saturday Doug Matheson showed up with the Bachmann Davenport. I popped off the hood, removed the NMRA 8-pin dummy plug, plugged in the Bluerail board, used some alligator clips to attach a battery, and in less than a minute from popping off the hood, I was controlling the loco from my phone. Next up, shoehorning everything under the hood.

Here’s the room under the hood.

The red/black pair are the wires to the motor. The black/brown are track pickup, which will get wrapped up. Switch and charging jack will go on the bottom, out where the speaker would go.

All this has to go in there. A flat-pack 12.6v battery, Bluerail board, and the original board. The battery is JUST narrow enough to fit, and short enough if I trimmed the front mounting posts (which I did).

Any fuses being used?

Battery

Original board (Less smoke unit and clamp for DCC board)

Bluerail board

All buttoned up.

And a quick test

This looks real interesting(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I’m out of them but plan on one in here somewhere.

Wow, that looks great. So cool you got everything to fit under the hood.

Next, the range test???

Neat Eng. Nice work and tk’s for the short video. Now need a test run video and do you have a speed control? I may have miss it.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
