Large Scale Central

Blast from my past

Looking through some of my old photos and came across a couple of train pictures. This first picture from the mid 60’s was taken at Frontierland in Maggie Valley, NC. The park is long defunct and I’ve been unable to find any reference to this locomotive. Sorry for the large photo, but a lot of detail was lost on the “shrunken” version.

This F7A was “The Texas Limited” and ran between Galveston & Houston. The engines are now at the Galveston RR Museum, but were flooded during hurricane Ike. This was around 1990 when the “Limited” still ran. Ralph

First pic is of a Crown 3 foot gauge 4-4-0–they’re all over the country. Only one I’ve ever ridden behind (unfortunately) is at Six Flags St. Louis. http://www.themeparkreview.com/parks/photo.php?pageid=51&linkid=7700 EDIT: The loco is now in Louisiana.

Is that Lil’ Ralphie?

You betcha it’s little Ralphie

Thanks Robbie. The information I found referred to the Jackson locomotive as #7.
I can see it is indeed #2.

Back in '64 I rode that train in Maggie Valley . . . and in '71 I was thru there. The park and railroad was closed. The train was still sitting there at that time and I had a look around and climbed on board. No idea what happened to it later, and have not been back thru there since. Thanks for posting pictures from “my past” as well as yours.
