On the railroad the Lancaster North Western Railroad Group is building they want to install sponsored billboards to help pay the bills.
We have a member who was going to design a billboard that used half sheets that could easily be replaced on the layout as needed. He became ill and hasn’t been able to complete the project.
Has anyone built one that size or one that could be adapted to that size? I’m looking for ideas.
I’m not sure what you mean by half sheets. I cobbled this up from scrap a few years ago…

The face is about 7.5" x 4"
They are talking about 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" but yours could be adapted. Nice work. What did you use for the frame?
Just bits I had lying around. My wife was throwing out a dish made from wood sticks and wired together. I dissembled it for the wood bits. Those are the ones with the holes. The rest is Popsicle sticks and other wood scraps. The lamps are brass HO street lamps that I had. Since this picture was taken I added some more conduit and wired the lights to work.
I had no plan, just built it from memory of similar signs along the road near me.

I liked your boards Korm, especially the grape stompers ad. I used to work in the Rancho Cucamonga area and went to a few grape stomps!
Were they French stompers?

because it is free space. i got more than 50 mega in pics at that place. plus my forum/website.
the advertizements are the price i have to “pay” for the “free” space.
(well, to be honest - why isn’t it real p*rn? and not just this slimy "friendfinder…)
on a more serious note:
when i entered this space years ago, i was asked, if i would like pop-ups or banners.
i then thought, pop-ups might be less stressy.
well, if one wants it cheap, one pays in other ways.
but this space was down less than two days per year up till now. and they ignore my forbidden “hotlinking”.
Well, let’s see, that poster couldn’t be from Michigan because it’s too cold to stomp grapes barefoot…

yes, photobucket and others host pics for free too.
for the moment i stay with funpic.de for two reasons.
i got used to them and i’m hesitant, to learn something different.
they not only host pics, but fora and homesites too.
