Yep, CP bought the Dakota Minnesota & Eastern a few years back and now they are floating the idea of selling off the entire line. I think this was in connection with the CP deciding to abandon the coal line idea.

DM&E (pre-CP) was planning on building a new line into the Powder River Basin to haul coal. The advantage was if coal could be hauled through SD instead of NE then the amount shipping time for customers in MN and WI, including rail to ship traffic in Duluth, would be cut by 2-3 days. Obviously there was opposition to the idea from the big guys, (BNSF and UP) as DM&E would be able to trump them, but alais it wont happen now.
