Large Scale Central

Big MTH day tomorrow...for me anyway!

After being away from the hobby for a while I have been doing some catching up on buying some things for my collection.

Tomorrow my shipment of MTH rolling stock is scheduled to come in!

I have (11) assorted cars and (1) VO1000 engine arriving.

This will give me a decent 1/32 scale collection to run on my new railroad that I should be starting to build in the next month.

I already have (1) VO1000 and a NYC Hudson from MTH, never bought any rolling stock before I had to give up the hobby a few years back, so I am excited like a kid on Christmas eve waiting for the big day to arrive.

Should have some pictures of everything posted tomorrow night.

That’s it, just excited to be getting more trains!

Congrats…

Taking a extended lunch break!

Tried posting a few pictures, but I can’t seem to get them to post?

I can see them in the preview box but not when it posts.

What a shame if MTH is not going to continue on in the G-scale world.

I opened a few pieces to check them out, to me they seem to be a great product. Don’t know what others think of them? I guess a few items seem a little more toy like then some might prefer, but I far prefer the MTH box cars over the AMS Accucraft cars I just received.

Tanker and coal cars are very nice, and while the caboose is what I consider to be more toy like I do like the flashing red light on the back of it!

Looks good Vinnie! Be sure to use code 250 track, will look LOTS better with the 1/32nd scale MTH.

If I was starting from scratch I probably would use code 250 track, but I have a lot of LGB track that came from my old layout, so with the price of track these days that is what I will be using!

Will have a busy night when I get home un-boxing the rest of them!

cool!

Where did you find all your MTH?

It is a train store in Texas that Jerry told me about.

He can send you a updated list of what they have left (after my purchase!)

I know they still had some passenger cars and other rolling stock. Some Dash 8 engines (powered & non) a few other engines also.

They had about the best stock I have found for MTH stuff.

I am going to have a quick bite to eat and then go open the rest up!

I will try and post some more pictures of what I got in today.

Here is the rest of the rolling stock I received today!

I did get a second coal car and a second log car also.

Just need to figure out a way to fasten the logs to the flat car, they don’t come with any strapping material!

I guess I can just use some fine braided wire to tie them down with.

Nice MTH stuff. I’ve got that Needham car, a SP Daylight GS4, and three Daylight cars. Was looking for a VO1000 when I had some extra cash, but no one was selling/had them in a western road name (unless you count Western Maryland).

Let us know how you layout is coming. What part of the country do you live in?

I live in Rhode Island, should be starting on the new layout mid part of May.

Going on a cruise to the western Caribbean on May 4th then when we get back everything should be good to go and I can get started!

I’m in Sacramento, but I’ll be in Boston for my youngest daughter’s wedding aboard a cruise ship in mid-June, followed by a four day cruise to St. John, New Brunswick. We’ll get to Boston a few days before sailing, to help her with last minute stuff.

If you’re willing to show your progress, let me know off list . I’m sure I can find the time!

I will most likely post some type of build progress report when I get started, if I have enough completed by the time you are over this way you are more then welcome to stop on by!

I am about one hour from Boston (depending on traffic)

You probably will want to swing by Charles Ro while you are in Boston, they are only 20 minutes away!

Most likely you will need another suit case to go back with!
