Big Hauler Bash

I have been working on a new Bash projects. Bachmann 4-6-0 Big Hauler I picked up on evilbay for $56. It started out looking like this…

Now looks like this…

Jason,
well done. The Big Haulers are fun to work with. If you intend another bash then may I suggest an Anniversary model (or an Annie clone taken from a starter set). The Annie does have not just more detail, but a new boiler assembly and a see-through chassis, plus the latest drive.

Nice work. The additional pipes and other details really help.

Oh Jason it looks great. Is it track powered or battery powered?
Dave

It is a track power. I am still looking for a sound card for it. The original is fried

Wow what a difference you did a great job

I am currently preparing to install a QSI sound card with a K4 sound file. In preparation for this I decided to introduce power from the track to the tender via the chucks. I accomplished this by making my own bushings.

Jason -

Great idea, I’m assuming you turned the shelving tab on a lathe to create the bushings.

If the wire you are using turns out to be too stiff to allow the trucks to pivot freely, TOC has suggested using Test Lead wire. It is made from very fine strands and is super flexible. He buys it in large spools. I’m not sure where to get it in small quantities other than buying leads and cutting them up.

Nice work. What a huge improvement some paint and details make eh?

Jon.

Here is the final result everyone.

OOOOO, that looks great. How did you do the lettering?
Dave

Lettering is vinyl dry decal that I had a local printing company make for me @ $10 a sheet 8X14

Nice work!

Jason, Nice job…amazing the transformation achievable with a color change!!!
