Large Scale Central

Big fun!

Today my wife and I got to visit Bob Treat’s Snow Creek Railroad, where we also met several local garden railroaders (including this forum’s own Greg E.) This is the first time we’ve seen anyone else’s railroad, or met any of the local GR folks. We had a good time and are planning to join the SDGRS.

Bob’s railroad, which has been featured in GR, is really amazing. What a work of art!

Ray,

Yes, the Snow Creek RR was the first LS layout that made me say “now that looks realistic!”

Today, Bob was talking about changing his mountains, he wanted to make them less “gnarly” in spots. Most people would kill to have something that looked even close.

Bob also mentioned that he has changed his technique a bit and might do a new article on his mountain making method.

Regards, Greg

Any photos of Bob’s RR? Always nice to see it through someone elses camera.
I wondered what ever became of Bob, have not seen or heard of him for awhile.

I did not take any, but Ray did.

Bob is alive and doing well, wish he was on the forums (more).

Regards, Greg

I wonder if he could be convinced to wander over here and hang out some? I love his ‘landscape modeling’, something I wish I could do, but even when I stack 2 real rocks on each other, it looks fake!

One visitor commented that he could not see where the manufactured rock ended and the real rock started. I was standing right at the “interface” not one foot away, and it was hard to tell!

Regards, Greg

Thats where one’s abilities or trade shows up in their work. Hes an artist if I remember right.

I wonder how his 'manufacturered rocks" would hold up to a few New England winters? Ill have to experiment.
