Big Boy schedule

But how can we be offended if the words are changed to protect the overly sensitive???

Anybody on route for part deux?

I hope they make a East Coast run, I would love to see it running in person.

You and I are already too late. They moved it to Scranton years ago.

Oh man I missed that. I know there is one at Steamtown and want to go, it’s only 1-1/2 hours from home too.

I suspect they are only running on UP-owned tracks? None of them around here on the right coast.

Neat little article

Jay Leno did an episode on the Big Boy recently:

The 4014 made Fox News just now, a brief blurb about it visiting Ft Worth. Cool!

In related news, there was a slight mishap on the way there. I’m still fact-checking this purported event…

Bloody Doc Brown at it again!

Check out his wrecks of the Flying Scotsman, LNER Mallard, SP Daylight, and others…

I found the “Why you don’t put coins on the train tracks” video particularly realistic and educational. A true public service message.

Speaking of Doc Brown, here’s an HO Euro sort of version.

Cut to Devon driving his old, trusty pickup truck through the winding roads of the Idaho Panhandle, the landscape gradually transitioning from dense forests to open plains. He glances at a soggy map, then shoves it aside with a grin.

Are we there yet?

We saw Big Boy 4005 today in Denver CO, at the Forney Museum of Transportation.

According to the official UP Big Boy page, there are seven on public display.

There are seven Big Boys on public display in various cities around the country. They can be found in St. Louis, Missouri; Dallas, Texas; Omaha, Nebraska; Denver, Colorado; Scranton, Pennsylvania; Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

We’ve seen Scranton’s and Denver’s now, I guess that leaves five more to see at some point.

Not sure if they count the 4014 as the one on display at Cheyenne? Cuz 4041 is in the middle of Kansas at the moment, on its way back to Cheyenne.

Posing with a Big Boy is becoming an obsession for Linda. This is number 2?

I think we all are going to expect a similar pose from you when Linda escorts you through the Textile Museum on your Washington, D.C. trip.

You probably owe her a trip to the National Wool Museum in Geelong too…

No we haven’t arrived. Like a fine bourbon this story will get better with time. Some day I might share my adventure
