I was in Cheyenne and went by the park to take pix of 4004. Even though I’ve been to it before and to 4014, the size is just amazing.

That’s been kept in pretty good shape for a static display.
Yes, I was kinda saddened to see the one in Dallas had its piston rods cut. The bloke at the museum told me that they have the cut out parts, so they could weld them back in if the thing is ever restored. Yea, right. You wonder if some of these old gents on static display will end up being parts donors for 4014. They could grab a good part and just hang the old worn out part to keep the static displays looking good. Just cool to think that one of these will be under steam again some day.
UP has done that to the Challenger in North Platte, took the oil burner out of it I know, not sure what else.
