Large Scale Central

Bi-level Gallery cars

[b] Freight is fine for making RR money but riding under a boxcar is not my cup of tea. I decided to build a car for the working class with STYLE and a great view! So I started with a huge sheet and a kitchen table…DANG it got big quick!

Tab-A just has to fit into Slot-A…

Ms Hottie does not have to worry about falling down thru the gallery floor opening BUT she better worry about Mr. Viagra…sigh…

I still have alot to do including finding a darker shade of GREEN…

Ray, nice build… Just curious, but how long is the model???

This is the first car of “A Science Fair Project”. It was just an attempt if 3 guys, 100 miles apart with
a Laser could play together…SMOKING… The car is only 22" long so we could tryout a few things.
The second car is 31" long with the correct window spacing. Once I spill some paint on it, me, table, cat
I post a photo of the two cars together.

lol, Ray… ummm, if it, you, the table, and the cat be painted, how do we know which is which???

Looks good Ray.
I like the green. But I’m sure a darker shade would look fine too.
Ralph

Nice work Ray, now let’s get to work on those Zephyer cars!

Cool. Almost what a Great Trains gallery car might have looked like. Floquil makes a great CNW Green. I used it to paint a tract house I’ve been working on for our HO layout:

…grinning…

[b] Andy The Cat will have to ‘fess up’ on its own. My story to the CFO will be it Mustard/Relish stains from Lunch. That’s my story and I am sticking to it!!! Besides how could she not believe such an honest face?

Well it was raining today so I did some more painting on the Bi-Level short and long cars. Here is the Cab-Car end with some of the detail work. Lettering, window gaskets and car lifts needed

Jerry The Zephyr cars will be the next project - Do you want one coach? Ralph/Matt Here are the two cars with some of the darker green bands applied. =)

Looking good… they are laser cut Ray?

Sweet. And you have B.P. Richfield on the road crew!
“Sinclair! Get back to work!”

NICE!

Yes it is cut from a 2mm sheet of stryene that has UV protection.
It melts about 350 degrees, is somewhat easy to cut…relative term…
compared to Shawn’s chain saw…
Alan has decided to make the cars available for assembly or completed.
Once he has updated the webpage, I post a link for your enjoyment.

“Almost what a Great Trains gallery car might have looked like.”
I am using some leftover GT interior parts and the roof.

Lou/Bob
…SWEET/NICE…exactly my thoughts - simple lines, no fluted side panels.
Just enough different from the BIG BOY CARS…

The darker green looks great.

Now they look just like the old CNW commuter trains my dad would take back when we lived in Barrington, Illinois.

Matt, that’s what I was thinking… Took this Picture, April 30th, up at the Illinois railroad Museum…

Did you happen to pan right a bit and take another? That orange critter is kind of interesting - wondering what the rest looks like

Nice - I just love little critters  Lots of pictures on the net it seems. I can Google that it is a 1951 Whitcomb Model 12M38, but no other data. By the size of the exhaust pipe I’m guessing it’s a gas mechanical.

Would guess you could email the museum guys for more info… that orange could cause big problems with a hangover!

Greg

Greg, thanks…
