Begger's corner

I am looking for a pair of Aristo Craft horn hook couplers. I have an older REA car that will not clear the grade crossing a fellow club member made. The trailing release lever catches the crossing. For those looking for an outlet, I will take whatever you may have.

From all you bashers, I am hoping one of you has the side window from a USA Trains wood side caboose in your junk box. The one that was rattling around inside the caboose for the last several months seems to have rattled itself out when I wasn’t looking, and now that I am trying to repair it … no joy.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the hook and loop jobbies? I am sure I have a hundred or so of them here.

David,

I have a blue hundred of them as well, but they are all ‘the other brand’. Aristo cars will not work with a Bachmann or USAT hook and loop. Been there, done that. However if you have some I would be greatful.

Bob C.

Bob, I do. I have over 100 Aristo freight cars. PM me your address and I will have the guys ship some out to you.

Is Begger’s corner anywhere near Begger’s Canyon where the whomp rats hang out ?

…could be…

Can you bulls eye a whomp rat from your T34?

“…trailing release lever catches the …”

B.C.;

I run with Aristo Hn’Ls, but not before trimming at least a bottom third of their release levers also, to prevent the occasional snag.

@Doug - Good suggestion Doug, I hadn’t considered that. I did customize one to deepen the slots the pivot ‘T’ the hook pivots on. Helped, but not enough. I will give your suggestion a try if replacing these with some from David M. doesn’t work.

@David - Crashed my T34 30 some years ago and have never gotten it back in operating condition.

Well, they aren’t worth as much since the new model came out. But you should get enough for it to buy passage to Alderon.
