There are no private beaches in Australia, and no fees to park anywhere along Perth’s beautiful Indian Ocean coast.
The best time to catch tailor (bluefish) is AM, when I usually go solo. Had a mate I used to go with regularly, but his divorce and the consequent upheaval ended that. I use a single piece 14’ rod and one of two Alvey reels, depending on the conditions. An eggbeater is also on the agenda if I want to spin a lure.
Equal fun is late PM into the evening, when I join Kay, son-in-law and grandsons. It’s more for the beach than the fishing, but we get a line wet and occasionally pull something in. The boys love messing about in the sand, so Kay and I usually have a fair bit of fun with them and let the fish look after themselves.
