What a hoot!
…I removed the mower deck, on mine…never will use it…then bought several of the 4 wheeled wagons from Crappy Tire to create the rolling stock.
Watch that you have enogh air to cool the motor, or you will overheat it easily. I suggest a auxillery electric fan, running on battery power…
…What you have done looks great…
whooda thunk it…a steam powered garden tractor…
Thanks for the comments.
This time of year, the mower is used twice a week, so the deck was left on. Otherwise, six bolts, and it all comes off in fifteen minutes. The gondollas were build on hand truck “dolly” s for the frame and wheels, with wood and aluminum angle bracing. The siderods are operational.
You can’t see it in the pictures, but the top of the barrel and sand dome are vented above the cooling fan. Also there is an air gap at the driver end of the boiler. I mounted an LGB bubble car machine in the smokestack. You can see bubbles coming from the stack on the first picture. In today’s pictures, the bubble machine was off due to exhausted batteries.

Saw a set-up like that a few years ago while toolin around Colorado. Stopped in Leadville CO. to ride the train and they had some kind of street fair going on. Someone had built the same thing you have there with about 20 cars behind it hauling kids around. They were lovin it…
