O.M.GRAM…Tear it all apart and start over because you forgot the window trim , curtains and fire extinguisher!
Good insights! The fire extinguisher moved with the laser, but should have one near the flam cabinet. The window’s getting replaced, and it will get all that afterwords.
I spent pretty much the whole day vacuuming, brushing and air-blasting the models before putting them back up.
Did some of that on the other train wall, added another shelf, and was somehow able to cram my entire collection in.
Some of these might look familiar to some of you…
Once the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors are installed your dust issues will be gone as well, leaving only knee high fingerprints to be worried about when the kids are around.
A final touch. I needed a home for the Victory model, and was inclined to salvage the crates that had been in the hallway.
Yesterday I modified the crates by removing unnecessary rear and side boards, and this morning stained them.
Then I mounted the crates, air-blasted the dust and cobwebs from the Vic, and set her in place.
So that’s it for basement stuff (part I), I need to get moving on my MIK project!!
Me too
Ya done good on the Victory display, Cliff. It will only get better as you fill in the boxes.
She would have still looked better floating here:

Linda saw the crate shelves late yesterday, and immediately populated them with some toy steam engines we have. Hers is the old Mamod on the lower left, she played with it when she was a kid. Others were things I bought over recent years, or build (on the right).
A real treasure is Bruce Chandler’s battery-powered speeder, lower left of center. I got it running a couple weeks ago, so fine.
I had to drill a big hole thru two crates, to fit the stack of my donkey on the right. That and the animated steam engine above it, and the shaft cage, are early works needing completion. So this display will hopefully serve as a reminder to do that.
The ship model is a reminder of how long Linda and I have been together, I built that when we were married in '84. Hadn’t built a model since I was a young teenager.
