1066…a great year. That’s the year I arrived in England…
It’s sunny and bright on the Southern California desert. I can work on the layout today in a t-shirt!
I can work on my layout in a t shirt too…
Of course I have an indoor layout…

Maybe it’s one of those Japanese thingies that washes and dries yer bottom. Or maybe it’s the Krakatoa of privies, the ultimate hot seat.
Okay now. Guys? This is a large scale model/garden railroad forum. Fryer Fred made those 1000 posts in good faith promoting the hobby. Bob puts “General Discussion” at the beginning because he thinks or assumes it will be about Largescale model railroading. Porcelain throwns just do not fit into this part of the hobby, unless you are blowing lunch on a southbound extra.
How are we going to attrack/t the wayword (which is something like wayward, but confuser talk) with you guys going on about blowing lunch? Its, its just unethical.
Actually, I don’t know how many posts I have and being lazy, I figured the easiest way was to post something and then check the number. Sorry. Please go back to your worshipping or up charlesing or up chucking or whatever you call it.
Thank you Ric, for the credit; but; I’m afraid that just about all I really contribute is a bit of suggested humour.
Often enough my humour is far below the standards of many others.
Bathroom humour is not my favourite, and I seldom contribute to it’s promotion.
The design, building, and site locations of outhouses, I find interesting.
I have several small books on the subject; most seem to be out of print. There have been calendars sold with outhouses as their theme. Many are almost photo “Works of art”.
An awful lot of the younger generation, have never seen, let alone used a REAL , honest - to- goodness outhouse; except the modern plastic comercial variety, that lack any charm or character. In fact the modern “Port-a-potty”, is far from what should be considered a part of “Outhouse Culture”.
Until a modern city/suburb person experiences the romance and tranquility of a fine old fashioned outhouse “Experience”; they haven’t learned to slow down and appreciate life.
With our common bond, here on LSC, of model railroading; the thought of a real, well designed outhouse; in the “Just right” location; with an outdoor model railroad track running by the open door; could be considered heaven on earth.
I often think of building one, although having a fully functioning one, within city limits is beyond hope. It could be built to look and feel like an outhouse, but fuction strictly as a “Reading and contemplation room”. The seat design would be the most change needed.
Perhaps one could also use an outhouse design, as a plan for a “Dispatchers’ Office”. Our Dispatchers’ office on the IPP&W is about the correct size, but has far too much widow area. The door does open in almost the correct direction…
Just the thought of a dispatcher, at easy, and enjoying tranquility; puts my need for a head ache tablet on emergency !!!
Introducing a computer, and email connection into an outhouse enviorment; leads to all sorts of speculation, on how improved the thoughts of many, might be seen in their in their contributions, as “Greatly improved”…just think of the great ideas that might burst forth…!!!
Any clean and healthy “Outhouse tales” could be a thread for future discussion…
I have had the…ummm…misfortune to have used a “real” outhouse. For some unknown reason I don’t share Fr. Fred’s romantic feelings about outhouses. I think I’ll pass and wait until I can find a less romantic one that flushes.
