This is such an embarrassment…but since you asked nicely…
Good enough! Thanks for letting us know Doug, and I’ll be sure to inform Barry. I think he felt he just needed take care of it.
All the best! Ken
David,
We appreciate it, but don’t feel bad you should have seen my Rio Grande set after a 9 year old got through dumping it off the layout onto the floor at an event. Yea, there wasn’t much left to work with but it’s slowly getting back to normal thanks to some great folks in the large scale community, including Stan Ceaderleaf who did some fantastic decal work for the passenger car.
Ken
I wasn’t going to show anyone what a mess the thing is. As I said, I bought it for the drive.
Not a problem. Barry is glad to know it has found a nice home and thought it’s condition was rather humerous. Kinda made his day!
Hope to see it when it’s done.

Could you ask Barry if he has any of the silicone bronze main rods for the Mason Bogie project over on another site. I have been looking for some for over a year now. Thanks
Noel Crawford
Noel,
I spoke to Barry and he said yes he has them but they are magnesium bronze and $25.00 a set, assembled.
He says to go ahead and give him a call at the number on the first post and he’ll get them to you.

I may be interested in his drives. I have the Bachman 280 and 440. Where, how much and when could I get?Mickey,
Barry started making drives because Bachmann’s early locos weren’t very reliable. However, Bachmann improved, and the 2-6-0 and 4-4-0 Spectrum locomotives have quite robust systems that shouldn’t need replacing (apart from that pesky split gear problem.) What’s wrong with yours?
Nothing wrong with them, I’ve just heard all the good stuff about his replacements that I’ve been meaning to do it, just never got around to it. I guess now is the time.
Right now all i’m going to say is buyer beware
richard
It sounds like you have purchased one of Barry’s drives and you were not happy with it?
I’m interested in your response!

Mickey,
As far as I know - and this is the place to ask - Barry never made a 4-4-0 chassis, and probably never will.
Pete & Mickey,
Spoke to Barry about this and
Barry has done around 10, 4-4-0 drives but they are strictly custom and therefore they are priced out individually.
Mickey,
Question, Is your 2-8-0 a Bachmann Consolidation?
Because the 2-8-0 Consolidation is a production item.
Ken
Note:
A letter from Barry to the Large Scale Community has been added on the first page on the original post.
Thanks!
Thanks for all the photos and information and if anyone else has more, feel free to add them.
Ken
Ken,
I think you should post Barry’s letter as a stand alone post, more will see. Not everyone will see your announcement and go back to read it.
John
Thanks John,
I hope everyone will be ok with me doing so! You know 2 separate posts?? Oh well we’ll give it a try.
Ken
Don’t fret, I’ve seen too many silly ones to worry about a worthy post.
Barry has many friends and not all may have read your post to know to go back.
It’s good, be Blessed.
John
Thanks John!
And Thanks to all who appreciated the post.
Ken
Ken,
I completely forgot that I have a 4-6-0 Tweetsie converted with a BBT drive. Runs well.
Joe, Thanks for posting this video and I have to agree with you, it runs very well. Barry will enjoy viewing this.
By the way you have a beautiful, clean railroad and Josh says he likes the truck also. Nice video!
Ken
Double post again! Apologies???
