Barry,
Mike Williams and I think that your new Connie drive will fit in the Backmann K-27 and the Spectrum Mogul. Maybe not a drop in fit, but with a little tinkering…
I will order another one (drive) and this coming winter we will start the remod.
John,
Give me a breather.
I have a K-27 Motor, gearbox and chassis. I am working on an application, which could surprise a few people.
Not thinking about the Spectrum Mogul or American, I think it is a bit tight, but the length of the gearbox could be shortened.

Gotta keep you on your toes, Barry!
You ain’t gettin any younger. (And neither am I).
Just to bring everyone up to date.
Have run short (not out) of motors, new order is placed and paid for (the hard part). But the delivery is scheduled to ship 5/18/10.
Am starting the second run of gearboxes, with a minor change (improvement).
Have a K-27 drive on the back burner for now.

This doesn’t affect our already installed units, does it?
How can you improve perfection?
John,
Thank you. I would like some more feed back, successes and problems.
I just finished another Connie yesterday and am impressed with the smoothness and quiet. Just what I wanted to accomplish.
The change is a minor dimensional change and does not affect earlier units.

Ya my new Connie looks great and I sure once I get to run it it will run great too.
Well, I see you made it across the USA again. Look forward to you bringing the Consolidated Friday. Along with the new Tweetsie and your stable of motive power.
Ric Golding said:Robbie came and picked it up so it will just be the Tweetsie and the SD70 showing up. Need to find those Kadees also. looking forward to this weekend should be fun.

Geoff,
You didn’t mention KaDees, which ones were you looking for?

barry i have some just cant find were in my messy house
Just for the record;
Just finished some locos for a commercial project.
Have been cutting blanks (slightly oversized pieces of the extrusions to be milled to the pieces needed to build the gearboxes).
I have orders for gearbox kits in this second run.

Just to fill in since my last posting.
I am in the midst of the second run of gear boxes. Have had new batch of motors delivered. And have started on the K-27 gearbox conversion (yes, it will work/fit).
As soon as I get a bit further with the gearboxes, I will complete the K-27 prototype and ship it to Dave Goodson for testing and showing at the Tacoma Convention.

Stay cool Barry. I see its been hot there. Hope its that dry heat as its been a bear here with the heat and humitidy.
geoff
It has been a mite warm here, one day last week 110 and the temp on my carport was 117.8 (but that is like a five sided oven).
Combinations of fans and A/C help.
The shop is the coolest place to be.

As of tomorrow morning, all of the back orders for BBT Motor and Gearbox Kit orders will have been shipped.
I know I have at least one order on the way in and I am building more just to have a few on the shelf.
Finally, I will be assembling the BBT Gearbox with the large Pittman motor from and for the K-27. The motor is sans flywheel and fitted with my brass worm.
This will be going to Dave Goodson for testing and display at the National Convention in Tacoma.

Eagerly waiting the outcome of the field test.
John,
Me too. I have expectations, based on assumptions.

Barry,
Do you have a WAG on the pricing yet?
