Bargain ar Ridge Road Station

Anybody looking for cheap rolling stock…

http://www.ridgeroadstation.com/istar.asp?a=3&manufacturer=2008&dept=trains&class=G&subclass=CARS

You can’t buy the wheels for what they are charging for the 4 car Santa Fe set. The last set I bought (at a higher price) had metal wheels. At this price…who knows.
Great for you bashers. The boxcar and Bobber are extremely close to the Bachmanns.
The other two are closer to 1/32.
Ralph

Thanks for the heads up Ralph, perfect for my 6 year olds train.

Thanks for the heads up!
I just ordered two sets. I am a little nervous now though… The bill was less than $33 and said shipping was $0.00, BUT when I got my online receipt it said that even though the shipping said $0.00 ups would be billing me for the shipping charges. Plus it never said what they would be. I really like ridge road station but that seems like a bad way to run things. I like to know what Im paying before I hit the “buy now” button. I live close enough that I could have driven there but thought this way was cheaper - now I don’t know…

Matt, I don't remember exactly what they charged me for shipping the last time I ordered a set. I do remember it was reasonable. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I agree, I'd rather know the shipping charges in advance. The problem with buying in the store.............the prices are higher. No competition in the neighborhood like there is on the net. I don't know how close you live to RRS, but between the higher in store prices and gas to drive over, you probably came out OK. Ralph

That’s the way RRS does it.
I’ve bought from them for years without any outrageous shipping charges.
Doesn’t bother me at all when I don’t know the shipping charges.
They are my #1 go-to online store.

Cale,
They must of sold out of the Sante Fe. The Union Pacific set was $29.99…still a nice price.

Wow I must have ordered just in time, the Union pacific set is no longer on the site. The only set is the limited ed. for 69.

One of the pitfalls of spreading the word..............things get snapped up ! I'm sure all of you who were able to take advantage of the sale and ordered a set will be pleased when you receive it. Ralph

Big box waiting for us when I got home, the Buddy L cars, my son was so excited to get 4 cars, and to match his Sante Fe Mighty Moe engine, right now he is running them all over the living room, could not believe it but they have metal wheels, for $14.99 and $12 shipping, I will take them any time.

Cool.
UPS was supposed to deliver mine today…but didn’t.
Hopefully tomorrow.
Ralph

Mine are set to arrive on the 24th

cale

Well you guys are bumming me out! My wife got a call from Ridge Road today saying that they had a website glitch and they ran out of stock and couldn’t fill my order. I had big plans for those sets! Did this happen to anyone else?
Again I will say that I like Ridge Road Station a lot but if I was a first time customer and I had these problems, this would be my only transaction with them. Im fairly certain it will be my last online dealings with them no matter what.
Matt

Matt,
Sorry to hear that.
My set arrived today.
I’ve never had a problem ordering online with RRS.
Anytime the web-site has shown an item in stock…I received it.
May be a situation where you ordered it and they sold a set in the store before processing your order.
Ralph

Matt it seems you ordered yours before I ordered mine. When I went to the site there were only the $30 and $70 sets avail…I’d call them, seek a compromise, ask for internet manager and plead your case, if nothing else, maybe they could do you one set for $30…not sure, but I’d call for sure!

Great advice Cale.
They still have the $69 “Buddy L” set, which is identical except for the lettering. All the sets are so called “limited edition”. They should be able to work something out.
I paid less than $69 for the Buddy L set over a year ago when I bought my first set.
Ralph

I just missed out on the set. Ridge Road called and said that they did not have anymore left. They were very good in that they called me and apologized. I ended up ordering the engine for $39.99. I know they are not the best quality but for that price still worth it.

I saw the engine for $39.99, a good price. Just keep an eye on the wiring to the pilots.
I had to rewire both the front and rear after a few hours of use.
