Banta Modelworks

over the last few years, If you were to go over to the Banta Modelworks website, you’d only find Cab Kits for Large Scale Trains… http://www.bantamodelworks.com/index.htm but wait…what is this?

BANTA MODELWORKS BACHMANN 1:20.3 GAS MECHANICAL CREW CAB CONVERSION KIT G Scale Laser Kit also for sale here: http://cgi.ebay.com/BACHMANN-1-20-3-CREW-CAB-CONVERSION-Model-Railroad-Kit-/250727477499?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3a6085b0fb and if you dig a little deeper, you can find yourself spending about $2.5G for this: http://cgi.ebay.com/PRO-PATRIA-MILL-1-20-3-G-Model-Railroad-Structure-Kit-/250727676232?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3a6088b948

I did get the Bachmann RailTruck box that Micro-Mark exclusively sold (still lost from the move)… Banta has an amazing array of cool kits for the HO scales, and I hope this could be a precursor to what is to come to LS? If I had a Davey (Davenport) I’d order this kit today! cale edit for dpelling

That box cab is nice!

The ProPatria mill is awesome! What a beast! Wish I had the space to model something like that on my layout. I can’t imagine there would be much market for a kit like this… I’m guessing maybe they created a custom kit for someone with deep pockets and a huge layout (Tom Miller?) and then it would be cost effective to sell duplicates since all the initial work is already paid for.

Hmm, I guess someone over there had a change of heart. I asked them at last year’s Narrow Gauge Convention if they’d consider doing more 1:20 stuff, and got a decidedly chilly reception, with them essentially pushing me off to another potential supplier (who in stark contrast said they’d be more than happy to work with me.) Made me a firm believer that Banta had zero further interest in the scale. I like the kit. Too bad mine’s slated for something different, but it’s definitely cool.

2 or so years ago I called and discussed Fn3, and there was supposedly a kit for the 45’er on the way, or at least that is what Bill said. I really dig the Davenport model, I love box cab and tram locos…Their crew cars Bunk and Kitchen look really nice too, boy wouldn’t that be sweet in 1:20.3…

who needs Bachmann to produce more scale models? Get your fav cutter to build the kit and do your own thing… Matt Brown, stop cringing

Yup, Banta were selling all their stuff off cheap, at least, that’s what happened over here in yUK. I bought the very last Shay semi-enclosed cab kit on sale in the UK from the only distributor - for less than $15.

A great pity, too, it went together like the easiest thing I’ve ever made in my life- a a VERY fine kit in every respect that shows just how exact you can be with a laser-cutting system. I’ve put a set of Brandbright brass stanchions/handrail knobs on it too, and it’s a real catch-eyer. Seems a real shame to put it on my old Shay…

Wow, I love the enclosed locomotive, very cool. Always wanted to build one of those for passenger service!

Several years ago, Tom Yorke (I think?) was going to make a diesel switcher body conversion for something, maybe an LGB power block? I sent in my deposit, but I dont know where it went after that.

Those Davenport cabs are neat, too. We also need some more conversions for the 45 tonner, or up-scaling of 1:29 stuff to 1:20-ish locomotives. Hint Hint, anyone listening?

I sent my deposit too.
I guess my deposit met the same fate as Bob’s did.

Last year I bought many of their conversion kits for On30 engines and do they ever make an engine look better.

Cheers from Hawaii, TOF

Anyone have one of those “Crew Cab Conversion” kits? Id be interested in some measurements. I have a drive that might fit nicely underneath it.

I’d dare a guess that there is a whole buncha folk waiting for something different…kits to build up or RTR that’s not the same ole thing…and yes…there are some who are listening…Anticipate

Was looking at past threads and just happened to see this
