Pretty powerful sounding little box-cab. Bet it will pull 10 cars with that prime mover
Dennis Paulson said:Yep, as near as I can tell there is no way to customize the horn or bell settings. It came with no instructions, though, so I might be missing something.
Yes that sounded much better to me also . While switching cars , will that bell sound all of the time like in the video ? Can it be silenced so it does not ring so much ? Thanks
My understanding is that, soon-isn, Aristo is going to release their programming software that will allow customization similar to the way you can with Phoenix.
For the price, these cant be beat.
We like that - wood or ‘rivetted steel’ is a never-mind. Got a Bachmann GM hanging around too. Heard no more about that other box-cab model in a while - what has happened there, I wonder?

Cut an access hole in the roof ribs, and will make a removable roof.
And stuffed a 6800mah battery pack, Revo controller, speaker, and charging jack inside.
That looks like it should work, Bob.
Do you think it will be able to pull many cars?
I just installed the sound-receiver in my RS-3, replacing a Phoenix that I can use elsewhere. The sound is not nearly as nice as the Phoenix, of course, but it is more than adequate. Yes, I’d like to play the bell and whistle, but it’s something I can live with - especially for the price.
Looks like a nice fit Bob. Thanks for the video
6800mah ? That should work. I guess you’re also using it for traction ballast(weight). That’s a lot of battery.

I had it pulling three of my boxcars on the workbench. Good enough for a yard switcher. I think this is going to end up being owned by the 28th Street Freight Company to work the yard there.

Nice looking boxcab , and some great run times with that battery , sound and everything .
Headlight hooked up.
Neat!!!
Sub-roof cut and glued, and most of the windows blacked out.
Now I need to build all the stuff on the roof.
Getting the finishing touches on. First coat of paint on the roof, before the texture fabric goes on. Also cut a plug to fit into the hole, and drilled it for sound.
Then I dug through the parts box for a stack, bell and horn. Didn’t find a horn, but found a stack and bell. Also built the radiator guts, and placed them were they’ll probably end up going.
Apologies for using the word…
CUTE!
I like!
Radiator painted and attached.
Looking good!
At long last I have my Boxcab completed. At the Invasion last summer Ric’s Boxcab was an inspiration for some of us to give it a try. Well here is my version of one. You’ll recognize the ‘Cab’ as the Banta Modelworks kit with an Aristo motor block and side frames. The Revolution receiver/transmitter controls things and a Phoenix P8 sound system with a ‘Norton Board’ allows me to 'play’with the sound. A lot of fun!
Merry Christmas,
Bob
I have no idea where the picture ended up??? It is in ‘my files’ but I can’t bring it into the body of my message.
