Bad service in UK

Dear All - I sent this email to Mr Briggs yesterday morning - http://www.loco-plates.co.uk/

Sir - you have until the end of today to respond to my request to provide either -

  1. My plates - paid for three months ago - that YOU said were receiving their final polish.

OR

  1. A full refund of my £18.00

If there is no response to this post, I’ll be publicising your lack of response on three web-sites on which I post, with a total readership exceeding 100,000. In addition I will be writing to two magazines - in UK the Atlantic Publications ‘Garden Rail’ and in the US Kalmbach’s ‘Garden Railways’, as well as the 16mm Association of GB.

Lastly, I am also a member of the G1MRA, an organisation that I will also notify.

Needless to say, I got no response.

Stay away, this guy, IMO, is a crook.

I understand your frustration. I’ve had similar problems from several different vendors lately.
You would think with the poor economy, businesses would be stepping up their service.
But it seems the opposite is taking place.
Good luck.

Greetings Terry,

I don’t know whether you read the UK GSC Forum but there have been a few posts there about this person.

I believe you have to be persistent as it is a part time venture on his part. Even so his products, if and when you get them, are said to be good by many.

Mornin, Alan - as you obviously don’t know, I’m banned from GSC for daring to disagree with the people who run it - and those who think they run it - about certain items in red boxes, and how there IS life after red boxes go extinct.

So I haven’t read anything there for a couple of years.

Frankly, I could care less what is posted there, after the nonsense where I was actually threatened with bodily harm if I dared to show my face at a train meet - not a good plan if you ever get to meet me face-to-face.

As for Mr Briggs, he can go join them.

That explains why I haven’t seen you there. I find two places of interest in the main: here and Aristo (well most of my stock is Aristo). Nice day here today and hopefully a few more this week so it will be an opportunity to run trains. best wishes to you and yours,

Same to you, Sir! Just got back from the range where I was sorting out a pal’s rifle for him - his ammunition as well to get it going right in the end.

Take care down there!

tac do you mean GSM or GSC? I thought GSC was only just over a year old, I know this because I almost got the boot also for posting some unedited “Robot Chicken” clips that in retrospect, were just a tad over the top. :open_mouth:

As for the OT, I would think if the sour economy was part of the problem, meaning less orders than when the economy was chugging along, well to me that would mean the vendor would actually have more time to do the work, and less excusses for being behind on deliverys. So it can’t be the economy so much as most hobby sellers like this tend to be cottage industries. Now if it was loss of primary job?, health issues?, or having to relocate home or business?, those seem more reasonable reasons for delay but that explaination of delay could be handled in a simple email to clients.

Victor - G-Scale Mad has been gone almost two years now [I was made very unwelcome there too, for the same reasons - I don’t have a ten foot by ten foot layout with 500 feet of track, gnomes, windmills and five thousand figures, and I like BIG American and Canadian trains so I was neve going to be flavour of the month there either.

The replacement website, a very popular one as well, has a lot of posters from the western side of the Great Water, and so far, none of them has been asked to leave [that I know of].

One of the reasons for my unpopularity on GSC was the suspicion that I was a deliberate ‘saboteur’ from this site, sent there to cause mayhem and spread trouble. As anyone who knows me would tell you, I don’t need any advice in that, I can sow my own seeds of destruction, having been paid by Her Majesty to do it to Her foes for most of a lifetime.

Best

Hello Tac-

For us groundlings on the “other side of the pond” would you translate Mr. Briggs and IMO so we can assess our own potential vulnerability? Is there an e-mail supplier involved that those of us in the U.S. could use?
I appreciate your consumer ethics and making clear the consequences for no positive action. Apparently, the presumption was negative public relations are not a threat.
Sad.

Great-looking and professional site, with many plaudits [put there by the owner of the site, of course].

Sadly, it does not mention the many failures to deliver, and the numerous claims in the Small Courts against him that remain unresolved. Of course, my comment is entirely without prejudice or bias.

As you say, you must make up your own minds.

I’ve gone elsewhere.

Terry, my son;
Grab your lap top 'puter, and sit in the summer “Crew lounge” on the IPP&W, where you can suck on a fine bheer, a good whine, or a fine Whisky, even a soft drink (Sugarfree) while “Playing” with “Evilbay”…you will have the company of good fiends, who will help you over the evils of those that take great pains to treat you in evil ways…
You might even find, that we might have contacts that are blessed with less inflated prices than EVELBAY…at your request…

We hope that you can find in your travels, the time to spend here in OTTAWA, besides the time during the :Invasion", to enjoy "Railroading" with us........

Fred - we are planning on it… ;=)
