Large Scale Central

Back to the Lombard

While it isn’t really his “fault” I’m blaming Jason for resurrecting this project anyway. You see, Jason decided he wanted to build one, but couldn’t find my photo/data sources… Old thread: http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=12043 3 YEARS of “seasoning” in a box? Oooookay, then. Anyway… The first order of the day was to re-work the center part of the frame. For whatever reason, the guy who started this notched the frame about halfway where it passed under the firebox. Making it straight will (hopefully) give me just enough room to build a “working” engine.

My crankshaft is two MPC General tender wheels with the flanges shaved off, a shortened axle and bits of Delton C-16 rods for pillow blocks

I mounted it on the frame with enough room to build the rest of the engine.

Yes, it’s just a wee bit out of scale, but it’s what I had.

I also cut back the firebox about 5/8" because it looked too long. I’m really, really looking forward to drilling new holes for the HO track pin “rivets” (NOT!!)
