Large Scale Central

Back again after three years. New RR

Well, we’re moving again. The Coast and Hillside RR is gone, the Castle Rwy never came to be. Now we get a new yard with a nice, flat layout and room for loops at each end, plus a full building permit from SWMBO.

So, let the games begin. Working name is the “Old Tiburon Railroad” This house was built in 1907 by the town’s only butcher with his winnings from the Louisana State Lottery. The Railroad will be set in about 1925, and there will be a visible display of the prohibition activities that this area was known for. Tiburon was the southern terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad, and an attempt will be made to be somewhat true to their rolling stock. A railroad museum is about a quarter mile down the road with an excellent HO scale model of the yard as it existed around then.

Here’s the untouched build location.

Hi Sean

Thanks for the welcome. I’m in Marin County.

I’ll try again with the image posting; didn’t work on my first attempt!

Hi, Michael, I am in Martinez across the bay from you, and also in the process of rebuilding my railroad. I’m not sure where you moved from but there are tons of resources in the SF Bay Area and some really nice layouts and people in Marin County. I would be happy to talk further. Nice backyard!

Michael, the southern terminus of the Northern Pacific Railway was Tacoma, Washington, with shared UP/NP/GN track south to Portland, OR. Actually, Tacoma was the western terminus of the NP.

The railway that you are alluding to is the North Pacific Coast Railroad, a horse of a different color, altogether. North Pacific Coast Railroad It took me a while to sus it out, too.

Lovely spot.

Welcome back!
