Bachmann web site problem

Hello !

What’s going on with the Bachmann web site ?

Every time I want to see this site, I find…absolutely nothing !

Does anyone have the same problem or am I alone in the white page ?

Thanks for your answers.

I seem to be having the same problem, when i went on about 7am et. Regards,Ron

There has been a LONG discuission about viruses on the Bachmann site (on MLS). This has been on-going for at least two months. Maybe Bachmann has FINALLY admitted they have a problem! Folks are just afraid to go there because of the damage it has done to “some” computers.

I mentioned a number of years ago to the head tech guy at the newspaper about a “back door” into our computer system.

He denied one existed. I truly think he didn’t know. Bachmann just doesn’t want to admit it because of liability issues!

To Ron and Chef,

Just to be clear, what are you folks “seeing”? Just a blank page? OR something else? OR does the Bachmann site no longer exist? Just a little more decription please. Just curious.

The reason I ask is that Stan Ames noticed a message from The Bachmann asking for help from users of the site to help them with a description of the virus the users are getting. Bachmann says it can find NO malicious malware or virus on their site. This message was dated April 24th, 2013.

It was just a blank page and nothing else.

But now, the Bachmann website is back and it works not so bad.

Just be aware that you need a very aggressive AV program running on your computer to use Bachmann’s site. Some of the malware issues have NOT been resolved the last I heard. I refuse to go to their site anymore. Just not worth the risk to me!

Their page comes up fine with Safari on the Mac.

Maybe you need a transistor to invert the signal.

No, that is wrong, in sync with the inverted chuff signal, you need to stand on your head when viewing the site.

Actually, an overly agressive AV program can backfire and give you a “false positive” on certain sites. This issue with the bachmann site has come up before a few years back.

Normally the “false positive” is corrected by the AV manufacturer in their AV definition updates.

I seem to remember that indeed once, there was a link somewhere on the bachmann site that indeed took you to a bad place.

(although maybe it was Bachmann pricing?)

ohh… bad Greg bad Greg… hahahaha

“Extroverted” or inverted or whatever “backfired: agressive AV”, I STILL won’t enter Bachmann’s site with even a wisp of problems. NOTHING over there interests me anymore! Not worth it to me to take the “risk”. I would much rather spend my bucks on train stuff than my “local computer guy”. AND with my interest now back to 1/8 scale, NOT just LS, they have absolutely nothing I need there.

And now, a funny story :

I tried to post the same topic on the BM forum and it has been destroyed immediately !

Wahoo ! What a free world !

I remember years ago it went offline, most likely due to sniding juveniles upset because someone criticised their beloved Thomas line. Fortunately, the forum was rehashed and the kiddies corner was separated for the sanity of most users.

Alas with the rehash, whenever anyone went to the site there was always a couple of Bachmann apologist who somehow always seemed to be first on the list to acquire new Bachmann releases. Their reviews were almost radiant in their glowing praise for any new product. The site lost any credibility and I lost interest, so any failure on the site would not impact too heavily on the hobby.

I would rather facts than advertorials.

I refuse to go to their site anymore ! The game is over for me.

Bachmann asked for details of the alleged malware. I gave them those details and two days later my anti virus program no longer picked up any infection danger.
This lasted for some weeks until once again Kaspersky was blocking alleged infections.
