So what kind of prices are we paying for the new largescale Bachmann Thomas set?
I’m asking because Hobby Lobby is clearing them out at $180.00 each. That seems a bit steep to me but I could be wrong…

180 dont seem bad to me. I paid 150.00 at a show for the one I got and I felt real lucky to get it at that. all the others were 225 to 250 at that show.
Jon,
We bought ours at Hobby Lobby almost a year ago and paid $197.00 plus Florida tax. $180.00 don’t sound bad to me.

$180 is not a bad price. I got my at ridge road for I think $190 when they first came out.
How patient are you, and what is your time worth??? Sometimes (rarely) the ones that the ‘train stop’ guy puts of fleabay go very low. Usually they are much higher. You’ll eventually get a better price, but you’ll probably have to watch every day for several months to do it. Kim got hers last summer for something like $135, I think.
So do any of you have a website for Hobby Lobby? A quick search online only produces the craft chain store & the R/C airplane and car store.

What you are finding is probably one and the same.Jon.
This one is purely RC stuff or at least I’m not finding any trains there? Used to be some high end germn RC stuff there. I remember buying Graupner boat drives from them almost 20 years ago

Hmmm? Neither of the two Hobby Lobby craft stores I’ve been to stock nor the website list any “train hobby” or toy related things? Depew store in the Buffalo area and the Elmira store. Both pretty disappointing as craft stores too. TONS of scrapbooking stuff. A little bit of everything else. Very little wood or paints. Jo-Anne fabrics & Micheal’s both does a better job.

We visited the new Hobby Lobby in Chambersburg while at the York Show, and I was disappointed. They had 3 train “sets”. For scratchbuilding they had copper, aluminum, and brass sheets, a good selection of wood, but absolutely no plastic sheets. I found an employee who said a lot of people asked for plastic, but the company doesn’t carry it. I didn’t buy any of these because if I started a project and ran out, the closest store to New Jersey is Easton, PA.
I did buy red and navy sticky vinyl sheets an an off brand for my Cricut. AC Moore and Michael’s only carry black, white, and brown.
FOR RALPH:
You wanted the name of the decal solution: Microscale Industries, Inc. “Liquid Decal Film”. It restores old decals and covers over inkjet and toner to keep them from dissolving. You paint it on, and it self levels. I paid $3 for a 1 oz. bottle, and have used less than 1/4". It works well keeping old decals from coming apart in pieces. I have had some really old ones that just disintegrate when you try to slide them off.
