Hans, yea I got an email about that from Bachmann. Shame is, when I go looking for parts on their site, what I want isn’t there, or they want too much money for it. But I did get one of them $50 drives for my 10 wheeler a while back. The thing is, the steam chest is so large it didn’t fit the 10 wheeler I had. So I need to do a bit of kit-bashing/modification to make it fit.

David,

I had the same issue a couple of years ago. I shortened the air tanks. How did you handle it?

Joe, I haven’t handled it yet. The locomotive shell was in worse shape then remembered it being in. I am thinking of a kit-bash. Anyone have any good pictures of an EBT 10 wheeler?

Take your pick.

The July 1981 issue of Model Railroader has some nice drawings of the EBT 10 wheeler. I used an Annie as the starting point for my 1:20 version of a ten wheeler inspired by the ET&WNC one.

Later, I rebuilt the tender and cab to be even closer.

Hans, yes there are a lot of models, and Moguls in a search like that. I did a search the other night and didn’t find quite what I was looking for.

The reason I am thinking of an EBT locomotive, is because I somehow found myself in possession of 4 LGB EBT hoppers and an EBT caboose. Although the caboose is brown, its still labeled for the EBT.

HJ,

Very few of those locos pictured are ten-wheelers!

The main reason is that EBT’s 4-6-0s are not often modeled. They have a big gap between 2nd and 3rd drivers, plus a straight boiler. Here’s one of the few photos of #4, “Cromwell”

You can make a Bachmann 4-6-0 into a reasonable version - if only because no-one knows what they really should look like. I ran this version for years.

I suspect there were lots of variations. Here’s the current #12. Not sure if it was ever on the real road.

That picture of “Cromwell” looks as though it has balance weights on the back of the wheel , which is unusual .

They are also an odd shape . Is there any further info on these ?

I presume that the spokes are painted , which makes the spokes look thinner and more elegant . Neat idea .

Mike

Pete,

That’s what GOOGLE presented.

Bruce, that’s not an East Broad Top 10 wheeler. I was kinda looking for the EBT ones.

I like the 10 wheelers with the firebox space between the drivers, but the Bachmann large scale one isn’t laid out that way. I am not looking to exactly model the EBT one, I just want to get the flavor of it, so it looks a bit more representative then the Bachmann one

D’oh! I don’t know why I was thinking ET&WNC; just buffleheaded, I guess. Sorry about that. Too bad Bachmann doesn’t do something like the EBT loco - I think it would be popular.

Brain fart aside…this is indeed the original #12 from the ET&WNC
