Bachmann Shay with Sound + Revo

Hi Guys

Can i put a Aristo Revo reciver into a Bachmann Shay without rewireing the whole Loco?
Is there a socket in that Loco like in the latest Bachmann locos, so that i only have to kick out that dcc stuff and put the reciver and batteries in? Is it that simple?

Can i keep the sound effects then?

If i have to rewire the whole loco to keep the sound then i`ll go with the loco without sound and add some sound later? its not a must have right now…

Regards

Marco

Marco,
I can only answer one part of your question, because except for newer Aristo locos, I gut them out.

<Is there a socket in that Loco like in the latest Bachmann locos, so that i only have to kick out that dcc stuff and put the receiver and batteries in?>

No, there isn’t. The only Bachmann engine that has that is the K-27. (That I know of). Cant say if the new Forney does or doesn’t.

John. Both the Forney and the Mallet have Plug’n’Play sockets.

Marco. If the Shay came DCC sound equipped, I don’t think there is any way you can marry the fitted sound system to any sort of R/C.

Thank you guys

I think ill go with the simple Shay then. It dont make sense to buy the one with sound when
i cant use the sound with the revo.

I`ll add some sound later then…

Thanks

Marco

Tony,
I forgot about the mallet.
Oldtimers disease, I guess.

There’s only one of those floating around here. Don’t get to see it much.

Marco
I just finished putting a Revo into a Bachmann Connie. Removed all of the Bachmann electronics and wired according to the revo instructions. It works perfectly. Prior to this I tried leaving some of the Bachmann wiring in and installing the revo, but it didn’t go so well. I have never really figured out what I did wrong, but ended up frying the revo reciever. Fortunately, Aristo repaired it for free. Next I will be installing Pheonix P8 sound.
