What is the minimum curve for the Bachmann Rail Truck?
I couldn’t find the information on the B’Mann site or here in the LSC review.
Ralph
I don’t have anything really tight to test it on … but the front truck swivels pretty freely (in fact, it’s just snapped on there…) and the rear is only a two wheel affair, so I suspect it’ll take pretty tight curves. If you don’t get a better answer and still need one, ask and I’ll see if I can dig out some of the old LGB 2 footers and see if it fits.
Ralph, I have just taken my Bachmann Railtruck out and ran it on my Tramway (Trolley) Line, with LGB R1 curves, no problems, as Matthew said the front truck swivels freely and it a single alxe drive wheel. You should have no problems. My main line is minimum 8 foot diameter (4 foot radius.) But for the Tramway I used typical sharp curves as in Street running.
Danny Sheehan said:Thank you Danny for your effort. Just what I needed to know, as I have R1 curves. I wish manufacturers would provide more complete information on their products. Ralph

Ralph,
You said - “I wish manufacturers would provide more complete information on their products.”
I think that would cause more people to not buy the product, than increase sales. You know the dazzle them with bullsh*t, therory and only tell them what they want to hear.
Watch out with that rail truck. Dave Goodson put out a report on it. There is an issue of too long screws on the gearbox, or something like that…it could ruin the gears if not adjusted…CHECK WITH DAVE GOODSON
Hey Ralph,
the RT is a nice little “do nothing” unit…I’ve gotten one converted to Batt and RCS…it hates grades (surging) but runs smooth on flat track…Dave did a fix for Bmann when he diagnosed the problem (check here on LSC, it’s easy to find)
…in addition…I like mine, although I nearly never run it outside (grades again)…though it does find itself running under the Christmas tree often! (Circle of Bmann track-what is that 4’?)
If you are just looking for something different, it’s not a bad choice, esp if you can find one under $125~!
cale
found it! http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=5870 cale Ridge Road has the yellow one for $118… http://www.ridgeroadstation.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=11782397!117 I got mine from The Favorite Spot on Ebay for $113 a while back.
And it can easily be turned into something else…

Thanks Cale,
The Rail Trucks are on close out. I was thinking about getting one, but I may pass on it now. My 1st line has some pretty steep grades. The second unfinished line does not have any steep grades. But I hate to spend money on something I can only run on half of my track.

Very cool Bruce. One of these days I’m going to try and turn my LGB starter engine into something else. I just haven’t decided what, yet.
Ralph
Ralph,
Thanks.
I have the same thoughts about my old Stainz. I just haven’t figured out what it should be…or even if it could be anything that fits into my layout.
Maybe we need a Stainz contest.
Bruce,
Did you see the Forney made from a Stainz and a powered truck? Pretty cool! That sucker would pull.
Yep, I saw that. I thought that was pretty cool. It’s amazing what folks have come up with.
I like that truck without the hood.
thanks Ric, that was done in-part due to laziness…still not replaced it! actually found it the other day while cleaning my work area…I’m like you, it looks pretty cool minus the hood.!
