Bachmann OSH Train Set

A couple of years ago I think it was OSH quit selling Bachmann G sets over the Christmas season. The last set they had was the yellow OSH engine, tender, combo car and passenger car. The local OSH here had this discontinued set on the shelf as a one of a kind item last christmas 2008 at the price of I think it was 230 bucks or so. Yesterday I went there to get some home repair stuff and lo and behold they had this lone solitary set in the left over after Christmas section marked down to $229.

What a bunch of jerks!

Had it been a hundred bucks cheaper I might have bought it.

Again, What a bunch of jerks.

Did you offer them $75.00 cash with the idea of going as high as $100.00? My grandfather would argue on the price of a pair of shoes and usually get some form of a discount.

Rudy the local OSH had some set before Xmas, same $229 price, no mark downs from list price, these sets were left overs from last years sets, and again no discounts, and I suspect like last years sets, these will just be put back on a shelf in a warehouse till next year…

Nah, OSH is about as bad as Radio Shack is when it comes to managers making decisions on their own instead of following the company line.

Thinking about this---if the set has sat in the OSH store attic for the last two/three years being thrown around by the loyal OSH workers that compete with UPS, Fed X and USPS for the throwing around and F-ing up merchandise awards the set probably has unseen hidden damages. I've had bad luck before with Bachmann Big Hauler loco's that have sat too long before being put into service.

I’d probably have the same bad luck again and would have wasted my money.

It just dawned on me that I saw neither hide nor hair of the annual OSH railroad calender yesterday at the OSH store. Has this tradition gone down the tubes also? What will be next to screw us I wonder?

I bought one of those Bachmann train sets from OSH, maybe 9 years ago, and it has worked just fine even now. And the local OSH had 2010 calendars for about a week before xmas. I got mine.

I didnt see any here at my local OSH and I’m a pretty regular customer

Good example of not speaking the lingo .

Mike,

It is a west coast USA thing. Some hardware store or something like that.

Ah , California , that explains it .
My daughter in law comes from there , and she talks funny too .

Mike

Calander update: went to a second OSH asked, they had them, under the counter, so some do have them.

OSH = Orchard Supply Hardware, a subsidiary of Sears, Roebuck and Co.

Thank you , Art .
