What is the easiest way to get into the headlight housing to change out the orange LED?
Most Bachmann lights sit on two supports that are held to a platform with tabs. Push the supports toward the center and you should be able to lift the light.
On the bottom of the casing is a hole. Put a brass rod a small wooden dowel through the hole to push the reflector and lens out. Then you can remove the LED.
Most Bachmann LEDs are wired black wire positive, red wire negative.
