Is there an air pump on the Bachmann Heisler model that I am missing? Was this something not normally put on a Heisler? Were any fitted as an after thought?

Well, I checked back-copies of GR and noted that the undec coal-burner came with an air pump and receiver on the right-hand side - as shown in George Schreyer's pages on the Heisler.

Have you checked you right of way? That's where I find most of that sort of stuff. :P
