Hi, bought a Bachmann Forney for a bargain price a few months ago.
Anybody converted one of these to R/C & sound? Done and search and little comes up. Thinking I might snip the super socket to save space…
The previous owner removed the locking pin to allow it to run R1s, would like to lock the chassis in place.
Dont cut the socket, bachmann has a board that you can use to connect any receiver that is not compatible to their socket. Give Bachmann a call and see if they have one of the adapter boards and get another pin to lock the chassis. The Forney shoul come with the adaptor board.
I own this same engine Alec. My big concern is battery space. I am thinking of gutting it. I will be watching to see how you do it.

I used a 14.8 lith ion. Fit perfect without gutting it.

Shawn did you fit a speaker & sound in yours, or R/C only?
Alec I only did the RC with no sound. Might be harder to do but you could prob fit something under the roof or in boiler.
Dave Goodson (TOC) has been known to fit various boards under the cab roof. Give him a shout.
