Now that the Davenport is available, has anyone bought one yet ?
If so, a review would be most welcome.

How about the review in the latest Garden Railways magazine by Kevin Strong?

Should be available on the Garden Railways website.
that seat looks almost identical to the one in my LGB #50 switcher?
Thanks for the link Matthew. Did you take any roster shots before disassembly? Love to see them.
Hmmm. Try this:

Not exactly roster shots, but I was planning to do those after I got it finished up with the new details and the livery… Matthew (OV)
Thanks Matthew. Nice looking little loco. I found this on the web a while back. Thought I might be able to bash something like it up from a Dizzy. It looks like the Davenport is pretty close as-is.

In 1:20.3 not so much. I’ve run a quarter pounder like that one at the Conn. Trolley Museum… there’s surprisingly enough room on the engineman’s side even for a big fellow like me… it’s nearly as large as the 44 tonner cab, and at CTM, they have a big bench seat on the left big enough for three or four people to ride comfortably…
This little guy is 15 tons lighter and has a cab that’s barely long enough to slide the door open… it’s a whole lot more like the cab on this 8 ton Plymouth: http://www.doerivergorge.com/railroad/plymouth.php It’s gonna be a challenge to squeeze the 1:20.3 engineer into the cab… and the seat is going to have to be both bigger and higher to hold him comfortably, and the controls will have to be larger than the as-delivered version. But, while both of those examples earlier in the thread look kind of like this guy, they’re both quite a lot beefier.

OK, so the stock headlight isn’t a bit oversize. Not seeing it in context with a 1:20 freight car it didn’t look that tiny. I get it now. Thanks
that Plymouth reminds me an awful lot of the MDC Big Hustler, it to was tiny for 1/22.5. I beleive it was originally intended to be 1/32 scale but got used mostly on NG lines

Try this on for size… Here’s the photo Kevin posted on MLS of his Davenport with a narrow gauge boxcar (I think it’s one of the Bachmann ones) …

And now a boxcar like that one, with its standard gauge cousin…

Yep. It’s pretty tiny. Matthew (OV)
On the 1:20me blog there is a link to a guy that is R/C’ing his Davenport. Good info there.
Yeah, I’ve read that … there might even be another installment up in the next day or so, or, that’s the rumor anyway!
