Pete, the difference between the “long” and “short” tank is only about a scale foot or so, and is only on the tank proper. The frame and wheelbase is the same length. The “short” tender has a small toolbox on the rear of the tank whereas the long tank does not.
The tender on EBT #7 is lower, but also a touch wider than the D&RG tank.

Mine is the long tank. I thought about building a lower, wider tank for #5, but just wasn’t in the mood to emboss a whole bunch of rivets. I then thought about narrowing a spare “Connie” tender I have, but decided to save that for my #5/#9 project. (I haven’t figured out which of the two I’m going to do, though given that I’ve been unsuccessful in sourcing proper wheels for it as yet, I’ve got time…
You could probably cut down the B’mann tank a bit (eliminate the lower of the two middle rows of rivets), then widen it a scale foot, and be pretty close to #7’s tank. I’ve still got it way in the back of my mind to tweak this tender, but I think if I were really to get a bug up my crawl to do that, I’d bite the bullet, buy another C-19, and just do EBT #7 c. 1890s with the aluminum striping.
Later,
