Bachmann Anniversary 10 Wheelers (2)

I have two Bachmann Anniversary 10 Wheeler locomotives that have been on my storage shelf for years. I’ve been holding them for a possible upgrade to Fn3, but I have come to realize that will never happen and they are not candidates for any future use, so I’ll offer them up. I don’t have any recent pictures, but can get them added in here soon. Both have run time, but not excessive. Both are likely very dusty. I will test to be sure the motors and gears are all OK before shipping.

The older of the two is ET&WNC #12. This loco has been modified by removing the plastic coal load, replacing it with a flat sheet of ABS, then covering with loose real crushed coal. I also added a LGB engineer and fireman. Their dress is definitely European. These photos are very old.

The second Annie is EBT #10. The EBT did have a 10 wheeler at one point, but this is not a model of it. Bachmann simply relettered the ET&WNC prototype for the EBT. This one has a known issue. When received new it was missing a pivot screw in the valve gear on one side. I was never able to get a replacement and used a piece of wire to hold the gear together allowing the loco to be run. I did the same coal load mod on this one and used a Bachmann engineer figure in the cab. A major modification was the replacement of the smoke unit with one from an Aristo SD-45 which produces a lot of smoke, but intermittently. I also added some weight over the pilot that can be seen in the last picture with the smokebox front off. Again, these are very old pictures. If there is interest I’ll get these out of their plastic cocoons for fresh photos…

I am pretty sure I have the original boxes, but probably not the outer shipping box. I have access to commercial UPS rates through work, so shipping would be reasonable, especially if delivered to a commercial address.

I really don’t know what to ask for these. I would sell individually, or as a pair. I think new ones last sold for around $250. I’ve seen some pretty wild prices as of late, but I’m not one to demand top dollar. What would you pay?

The motorized smoke unit looks to be the Aristocraft unit. This unit had a built in DC to DC converter and worked from 5 volts to over 20 volts.

If the side rods are metal then these are anniversary engines (annies), plastic side rod models were not as robust as the Annies.

You confused me Dan and I had to go back and look at the title to this thread which is: Bachmann Anniversary 10 Wheelers (2). Seems he already knows they are Annies

Yes, they are Anniversary models, and yes, that is an Aristo smoke unit. Both stated in the text.

Bump for post count

Jon… If you haven’t got rid of them yet… Might you be interested in a trade for something really special?

Dave T.

I’m open to anything Dave. Send me a PM with what you have in mind.

I’m confused. You say this is ET&WNC #25 but the photos are of ET&WNC #12! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

Photos don’t lie. I messed up! It is #12.

I was really looking to help finance my foray into RailPro, but your offer sounds interesting. I’ve sent you a PM today with latest info.

I took new pictures. The EBT unit with Aristo smoke is pending, so for now just posting new shots of ET&WNC #12 as she sits today. This pic shows the tender mod and the peeps. Real coal for a load and the original plastic load will be included…

Yes, it’s dusty! For the past 4 or 5 years it’s been covered with plastic. This is vintage dust…

Better view of the peeps…

Fireman’s side. Note that the headlamp has popped out of it’s mount. Clips are intact, but the wire does not want to push back in. Probably a 2 minute fix if I tried…

Also, the bell and whistle cords have come unglued from the cab…

And finally, details of the headlamp issue…

I don’t think this unit has a ton of hours on it. When it was active I was more into the diesels. But that’s not to say it wasn’t used. They have been selling used for around $250 plus shipping. I’ll sweeten that up a bit by covering the shipping anywhere in lower 48. I have the original display AND shipping boxes.

Well - I guess my price was right because #12 got snapped right up by a guy who lives not far from Bob and Stan. He advertised ISO on Facebook this morning and had no less than 4 offers to sell him one.

#10 is still pending, but likely sold as well. Thanks everyone!

Our friend Dave Taylor is not only mechanically talented, he’s also an artist. This beautiful, and HEAVY, wind chime just arrived today. The “something special” he mentioned earlier in this thread. It is made from boiler tubes removed from D&RGW steam locomotives. This one happens to be made from tubes removed from #315. The tubes are tuned to the frequencies of the 5 chime whistle worn by 315. Although it sounds nothing like a whistle, it has a very deep pleasing tone. It now holds a place of honor on the porch overlooking the railroad. Great work Dave!!!

Cool. BUT now YOU need to record a video WITH sound so we can actually hear it

Video by popular demand. Not real windy today, but enough for a little noise. Sorry this is sideways. I shot in portrait but can’'t figure out how to get Vimeo to show it in that orientation…

EDIT to add a picture with the included sail that I installed today…
