Bachmann Annie

Does anyone know the height and width of the Bachmann Annie? They’re cheap at the moment and might make a good bash, provided they fit my loading gauge.

At the cab the the ten wheelers are almost 7 inches tall and 5 inches wide.

Thanks for the info. You just saved me a hundred or two. Alas the Annie is too wide.

Just a minute Kevin. My Annie measures a little differently. I have 4.5" wide over the cab (excluding hand rails), 6 1/4" high and tender measures 4 3/8" wide over the base. This locomotive looks great running with either 1:22.5 or 1:29. It would be a tad too large for 1:24 (Aristo classic) or 1:32 (MTH), and a little too small for 1:20.3 without modification. USAT’s American series looks ok with it.

I think Brian got his girls names mixed up. The measurements he gave are more suitable for the Connie which is 1:20.3.

Thanks Warren. Those dimensions are just right. I might grab a couple while they’re cheap. Snaubins has the undecorated version for $100.

I plan to mutilate them pretty severely, to run on the copra plantation branchline on my island.

I understand the Connie is a small loco with a very big cab. Is that true?

The prototype Connie is a small locomotive. But the model is done in 1:20.3 which makes the cab too big for the smaller scales. The cab isn’t overly large for the scale, it’s just not a dinky thing like the Indy was…but roomy enough that the engineer and fireman don’t feel cramped. If you were modeling in 1:20.3 then the Connie would have been a great choice. As a note, they are used in Cuba for the sugar trains.
