I thought maybe 1 or 2 of you would like to see a loco I have overhauled. It runs well and I usually have it on passenger service with four Jackson Sharp coaches. It’s still noisy, but pulls well.

Looks pretty good. I rebuilt a 2nd gen with battery power and some extra weight the other year. It’s also pretty noisy, but it pulls 20-25 cars. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

I’d be afraid to pull 20-25 cars with it for fear of stripping it’s gears. Mine will pull a 12 car freight train with no problem (that’s all my freight rolling stock at the moment).
Thanks Barry. I learned a lot about these engines tearing into this one (I have four). My 5G 4-6-0 was the latest one to get a reworking. It had the worst electrical pickups I could imagine. I removed them and replaced them with LGB plunger pickups. It is MUCH better now.
I am looking for a few sets of your metal side rods for the B’Mann 4-6-0’s. Would you have any laying around for sale?
I don’t pull that many cars on a regular basis, and I keep a close eye on the gears. As it is they look new; if anything changes I’ll take it easier.
Also, as the second generation, this appears to have a plastic gear press-fit onto the axle. I suspect the gear will slip before it shreds.

Yes, a Pair of laser-cut stainless steel siderods with SS hardware are $25.00 the pair (kit).
Also BBT drive conversions are still avilable, which include the Pittman motor gearbox, siderods and flexible pilot truck. As an incentive, will install no charge.

Maybe so, but I have sent emails to two different addresses that Barry has provided, and still no response.
Barry and I have always had email problems because mine tends to go to his junk file!
