Found this on Micro-Mark. What are your thoughts on this engine.
I have not gotten around yet to picking up a 3-truck shay, but I have two of the very early 2-truck shays that Bachmann produced and they are still my favorite running engines.
Great pulling power and they can run smoothly at a snail pace, I wouldn’t hesitate to get another one … or two.
Good price - you don’t often see them below $400. That’s a lot of loco for the money.
WOW! you guys Stateside are lucky. Even from one of the most competitively priced dealers in the UK the price over here works out to a $1040 equivalent. Not on my wish list at that price. lol
Louis check out Ebay there are new 3 truck shays on there right now.
Here is one with sound.
They are from Ana Kramer a well known Ebayer, shipping is a bit high at near $30 but they are a big heavy box. The one with sound is a Best Offer I would try out $400 and cross my fingers. In fact at $400 I’m tempted to get one… if only I had the room.
I have a late model 38 ton 2 truck shay and it is a great hauler and a really good looking engine but it is BIG and really meant for a narrow gauge RR but besides that it has really nice detail and looks jsut as good riding the rails or sitting on the shelf. I imagine for the 3 truck you might need a cradle to transport it since it is so long.
Happy RRing
I have a two truck and a three truck - Haven’t had any trouble with either - They are a joy to watch run…
That is a very good price. I followed 10 three truck shays up for bids on Ebay over a few weeks. The average selling price was $367.57 for 10 eBay winning bids
I was doing this research to budget for a 2nd three trucker. Like the other guys I really like the first one I bought a few years back.
