Bachmann 3 Truck Shay

Buddy of mine got a new Bachmann 3 truck shay. Has the sound in it. On track power, the sound comes on, even sounds like the shay is running, but the wheels are not moving on the track. We tried the switches behind the smokebox door, but to no avail. Light did blink, which signifies too much power, then it would shut off.

Any ideas?

Jerry;
Sounds like another one like I had.
He will have to take it to a Bachmann dealer or send it back for warranty repair .
I had a similar problem they sent me a different loco. Seems like their are a lot of bad loco’s.
Good Luck

He bought it off ebay, that guy in Texas that sells so much stuff. BUT, that was months ago, he never took it out of the box till yesterday. So not sure what he can do.

Probably not much he can do but pay for what ever repairs it needs.
Anything I buy, I test ASAP

I agree Ralph.

Jerry if its the place I think it is. Send them a e-mail let them know the problem and see what they say. I have gotten lots from them and they have always been far with me. It don’t cost anything to ask.

Ahh… you did not mention the blinking lights on the other forum…

If you are running it on PWM, it will detect full voltage…

It won’t take over about 20-21 volts DC…

Put it on straight DC and see what happens… about 12 volts

Greg

If it was new it should have a 1 year warranty.

I was just thinking the same Greg. A club member tried running one on my layout. It did the same thing. Then I wondered if it had anything to do with the power being on PWC. I turned the switched and worked fine.

Well, he’s been pretty busy and has not brought it back out to try. He does not have his layout done. Thanks for the advice guys, will pass it on to him.
