Bachmann 2 Truck Shay Sound Trigger Question

I’m working on the sound in a Bachmann 2 Truck Shay and have two more Shays waiting for sound. Phoenix sound for all three.

The chuff triggers are not working, got a closed circuit. Found a thread by Mathew (OV) about adjusting the triggers which I will try BUT…

Are the stock triggers reliable once adjusted? Do most owners of the Bachmann Shays use the stock triggers or add magnets/reed switches. I can also use the voltage controlled chuff but wanted to hear what others have used.

I have an older Bachmann 2 Truck Shay that I purchased used. Installed a Phoenix sound P8, Revolution and Battery power. I use the stock triggers and ran it all last summer with no problems what so ever.

My shays been around about 10 years and the sound still works off the chuff triggers.

Mine is 5 years old and has always used the stock triggers with no problems.

Many thanks for the input. Time to tear apart the assembly and fix the contacts.
