The hobby has always been fun :). It’s just funner now
Timmy, it looks nice! Columbias are fun fodder for bashes I like bashing these little lokies…I tried something similar but as a plantation type lokie:
I recently rebuilt this same engine completly into a bash Heisler:
And another relatively unaltered Columbia bashed into a Heilser.
Keep it up, I look forward to seeing more bashes
way cool!
Is the base styrene or wood?

The red one uses a HLW flatcar, with the bolsters and underframe ground away, big PITA, even with a Dremel.
The black one used a 20’ Bachmann flatcar which only needed the underchassis to be unscrewed to remove, way way easier. I did reinforce the Bmann with 1/4" square wood strips under each side.
If I do another in future, I will use Bmann flats, either the 20’ or the standard one. Much easier.

With the help of TOC I finally modified this thing to make it completely around my layout.

Looks great Timmy. Good job!
That’s very cool–you just started sawing away?
Needs some weathering though
I also added LGB pickup wheels to the rear truck and wired them in. This has made an immense improvement as when this was in the 2-4-2 configuration it just could never make it very far. With the pickup wheels on the rear truck I can now run this slowly.
Thats some overhang
When I did the MLS CP Huntington 4-2-4 Masterclass, I had the same issue on my R1 curves, but it wouldnt clear my then layout, so I had to cut and modify my CPH into a 4-2-0.
Yes, the overhang is pretty intense. However, it is fun to finally be able to run this kit bash.
Love the Heislerette…
