Bachmann 1:20 rolling stock question

OK, I have discovered Bachmann’s 1:20 rolling stock. The flat car I purchased has the smaller wheels. It was also provided with knuckle couplers that are body mounted.

Will these mate with Bachmann’s 1:22.5 rolling stock?

Can hook & loop couplers be mounted in their place?

If I decide to change over to all knuckle couplers on my existing LGB and Bachmann rolling stock, will all be according to Hoyle?

Are you referring to the “Spectrum” cars? If so, they will mount to the smaller 1:22.5 stuff if you use the off-set coupler supplied with the Spectrum line. They will not run on less than an 8’ diameter circle.

If they’re the “tiny wheel” cars, they’re likely the really small freelance cars that Bachmann calls “1:20,” but are in actuality just cars that were drawn up on paper to be 12" long. Their couplers should mate just fine with the 1:22 stuff. I don’t recall if they come with offset shank couplers to mate with the “Spetrum” line of true 1:20 stuff.

Mine sample came with hook-and-loop couplers in the box, but there was no way to actually mount them. Go figure…

HMMM. Here is the car in question;

Good info Boomer. Nice to have that all in one place.

Thanks Boomer. No, it’s not too much information. Now the offset couplers would be mounted on the Bachmann 20’ cars I presume. And after doing a quick comparison with an LGB piece of rolling stock, it appears that the Bachmann offset coupler would be offset upward.
