Still a work in progress but here it is so far cut down to more of a 1/29th look
For this one i’m thinking of leaving the wheels as they are and not changing out the axles, the next one I get ahold of will have 4 wheels

Filling the holes from the old grabs and moving the couples in so they aren’t so redonkulous
Needs HEP cabling
Needs a lot of help, just not cabling, lol
Don’t see no HEP cabling in this pic

An interesting project.
I see you have painted your own scheme onto one of the bobbers. I am starting a project for our garden RR group to demonstrate how to paint the bobber. I am using the model you shortened.
Questions.
Since I’m using all “used” models, is there a trick to removing “decals” etc from the bobber. Is sanding best, or is soaking it in brake fluid acceptable/better?
I assume the brown/red color of the bobber is part of the molding and won’t change to a primer color prior to me working on them before paintiing.
Did you use primer and then paint, or did you just paint the bobber right over the current body (un-primed) color?
Any caution on decals that might be needed?
Thanks
Originally I gave away bobbers cause they were out of scale with what I typically run, the bobber i used to do the side by side was one I recently was given back from the widow of the gentleman (Wayne Tullar RIP) he painted that one.
I have a few bobbers and scientific trains cabooses that i’m now trying to repurpose for my use
Yes the color of the bachman is the plastic color, brake fluid should remove the lettering without harming the plastic, that’s my next step.
Yes I will use a rattle can primer before going to a red the D&H used
And Roster i’m now looking at more details for the ends ie hep cables, additional grabs, etc
Also thinking about replacing the ladder with one that bends at the tops like this one

A relly quick paint remover is carb cleaner. Spray very little on a Q-tip or paper towel and wipe LIGHTLY. It will take it right off, no scrubbing or waiting. But work carefully. Oh and in a well circulated area.
