B&O slope back tender switcher?

Any of you guys over in the real world seen one of these cute little steamers yet? I can find zilch about them anywhere except the AccuCraft site.

I’ve had the Rivarossi H0 version since 1968, and would love to lay my paws on the steamer version to run at our outdoor events.

The C classes were 0-4-0s and the D classes were 0-6-0s Some had slopeback tenders, some had regular ones. http://www.northeast.railfan.net/bo_steam1.html

Wow Mik those are exatly the link that I looked up this morning for the C-16a #98 ans #99 , and was going to post also . But then I reread Tacs post and decided it wasn’t what he may have wanted as much as more info for the Accucraft model . Wouldn’t a good model of either one of these 0-4-0s , 98 or 99 , be great in large scale , Accucraft maybe in electric power .

The #99 would be do-able from an Aristo 0-4-0.

You’d mostly just have to replace the Belpaire firebox section with some pvc pipe, carve away the big air tanks under the cab, move the headlight, change the running boards. And maybe stretch the tender about 3/4" at the fuel bunker… if you’re picky.

About 3 or 4 evenings, or a weekend worth of work.

Thanks for the great pics, Mik - not too keen on making the plastic Aristo-Craft model conversion, especially as they are not usually seen here in yUK.

Guess I’m picky.

Dennis is right on the button - I’ve not seen one running anywhere - have any of you guys?

Tac,

A google search turned this video up first:
"Accucraft AML slope back tender B&O dockside first two runs "
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml862ki79IQ

P.S. Pity you like the slope-back, and those UK prices!! ($2,000+ !!) You can get the USRA 0-6-0 for around $800 over here.

Thanks, Pete - it looks to be a real cutie, and powerful, too, from the length of the consist it was hauling. Just the thing - I’ll buy it from Cliff in his all-in price and take the customs hit here when it arrives…

If I get really bored this winter and can find a (sparky) 0-4-0 w/ tender cheap enough, I might try a #99 conversion… unfortunately it would be totally the wrong scale for the AV, so I’d probably hafta “screw it all up” by grafting on a Delton c-16 cab too.

Great link , that guy sure runs his live steam locos at a realistic speeds , and a nice inside layout for live steam locos .

Yus, he spoke to me about his layout, which has all scratch-built structures in the German/Dutch style [he is Dutch]. He likes to run all his trains at realistic speeds, which is good to see. He gets all his AccuCraft trains from his local dealer in Helmsteede, who, in turn, gets them from Lorenz Schug in Detzem, a gentleman with whom I have had dealings. If this was a Euro website, he’d be all over it like a rash, after all, he IS Mr AccuCraft Europe, and the ‘father’ of all the recent list of German and older Prussian locomotives, rather like Hans is with Aster in the USA, and Ian Pearse is with AccuCraft UK.

Best to all
