Hay I just wanted to check and make sure all our friends downunder are ok. I had heard a little about the fires but had no ideal they were this bad. Saw a story in the New York Times front page. I hope you all are ok.
Sure sounds/looks awful down there. Very sad at the loss of life.
Things are pretty crook in Victoria at the moment. The death toll is up to 138 and counting I think. The worst of it all is that they reckon some were started by fire bugs. Then up north around Cairns they are flooded out. Ingham a sugar growing and mill town south of Cairns had 1 meter of water in a week.
well Bob I hope you and the others are staying safe.
I have been thoguht some fires in SoCal and floods in Missouri. None of it fun.
Stay safe.
Stay safe, all.
I’ve been through fires, hurricanes, cyclones, floods and blizzards. I don’t know which is worse. They are all bad.
We had a firestorm here about 15 years ago. It was ugly.
Death tll now at 173 and climbing
One of our former colleagues lost the home where she grew up. She is headed back to Victoria now; wants to see how her neighbours have fared.
Will top the ton here tomorrow, but so far no major outbreaks in the West.
Toll up to 181
Fletch says he’s fine so far, though the fires are nearby.
lost one home to fire, it wasn’t pretty…but this is just UGLY! stay safe you guys, get out while the gettin is good!
Has anyone heard from Tony? I haven’t seen any of his posts for a while, I hope he and his family are safe from the fires.
Re: Mr Walsham - have a look in ‘off-topic’ - I think you’ll find he’s alive and kicking…at least he was at 5.58MST.
It pays to have a scramble up and down ALL the forums on a site like this one - one man’s ‘general discussion’ is an other man’s ‘off-topic’.
