Large Scale Central

At last!

I finally got rid of the rusty, rat-infested old shed that was taking up a big chunk of our patio and blocking the view of the railroad!

I hired a crew to come tear down the shed and haul it off, along with all the ratty, grimy junk inside. The only things they couldn’t take were a few “household chemicals” such as old paint, etc.

I also bought a smaller, plastic shed and put it in the far corner where it won’t be in the way. It took me a while to figure out how to assemble it. The instructions require two people, but eventually I found a way to get it done by myself. After I assembled it I caulked all the joints for added protection from weather and insects.

.

Nice upgrade!

i spy, a new building in white on the layout! what are you making now? nice little building, I have a slightly larger version.

Pete, that’s the cover I made to protect the Dos Manos Depot when the layout’s not in use.

Did the removal guys ask about the layout? My A/C guys wanted to see a train run last year when they were installing the new unit!

That does look mo better, Ray. Certainly opens the view up to your beautiful layout (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

I gotta say I understand upgrading but boy did the old shed (can we call her Betsy?) add some serious ambience to the RR !!

It would have been cool to see her (white) painted in industrial green while leaving the rust.

OH… and a gooseneck light centered between the doors on the gable.

Just saying

Pete, yes they asked about the layout! Also took a photo of it.

Nice upgrade Ray. I must say you do have one of (if not the) best background scenes in large scale layouts. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Good one Ray April fools …That shed is actually made of styrene to look old and decrepit … Ray it’s really hard to tell your model from the real things…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Ray, are you going to weather the new shed? The weathering on the old one was very realistic(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

LOL!

Looks real nice now, Ray. People can come in and view your layout now without a large obstruction in the way. When’s the next convention tour? (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Don’t know yet when we’ll have a tour here again. One more project I want to get done soon is to have some sort of handrail installed along the steps, next to the vinyl fence at the east end of the layout. It makes me nervous having people use those stairs without a handrail, especially since a large percentage of our visitors are seniors.

Ray , when California finally opens back up and you have an open house , please post it here I’m 6 hours away and will be there if at all possible to see you place in person!

Actually been driving through there about once a week , but thinking about stopping by with a 70’ long 18 wheeler is out of the question.

Cool. I’ll let you know when we have an open house again.

Ray, every time I see pictures of your layout from a distance I think it is so cool what you have done with an awkward space. That steep slope would be hard to do much with but it makes for an awesome train layout.

Really made a difference it the looks of layout. Been a few years since I saw your RR. Wish I could revisit. Later RJD
