Large Scale Central

At a recent train show

At a recent show at a small town in our area, our club set up the modular layout.
This is a farming community and it is a lot of fun to watch the farmers and their families enjoy the trains.
During the afternoon, I noticed standing at the edge of the modules was on old blind man, being led around by what I assumed was his daughter.
As the trains went by, she tried to describe to him what they looked like.
Immediately, our Prez, Tony Goatz (LSC Mem), jumped up and thrust a box car into his hands. He felt every part of it, from top to bottom, smiling broadly and commenting on how big they were.
I couldn’t hear the conversation, because of all our sound systems cranked up, between Tony and this man. And a little later, I noticed member Mike Williams (LSC Mem) also talking to him.
This made my day as well as all the others there.
This is a true story.

CLASS ACT!

One of our (Midwest Large Scale) modules had some small cacti in little pots. A young girl was asking about them. Her mom explained that she collects cacti and hadn’t seen one of those. I suggested she ask Evelyn who owns the module…

And he gave the girl the little cactus.

Garden railroaders are some top tier people.

Several times over the years at train shows, we have stopped one of the loops so a complete stranger can test a large scale locomotive he wants to buy from a vender.
