ARRG!!! Looking Out My Window...

At a big brush fire on Loma Ridge. This is adjacent to the emergency response (911) station for Orange County, so they will put everything they have into stopping it. May be time to pack stuff up soon.

Let’s hope the winds don’t kick up.

Stay safe Todd. Hoping the winds blow it away from you.

Well, it would have to cross the 261, Jamboree road, and your canyon to get to you…

Which way are the prevailing breezes?

Greg

Appears to be along the Jeep Trail between 241 and 261. I’m on Overhill Dr just west of Peter’s Canyon, so around half a mile or a bit more depending on exactly where the fire is. Light breeze is to the north and the Anaheim Hills/Corona area will get most of the smoke. I can see them doing water drops.

Well, you have a fairly good distance margin, but of course not a lot of access for fire trucks…

Greg

Just saw this,

Take care Todd. Hoping there’s not a lot of fuel, and as John said, wind to blow it your way.

Cliff

Yes, and 5 min ago on Channel 7. Expected to go to about 200 acres.

First, stay safe. And everyone else too.
Second, any interesting aircraft doing the water drops?

Actually yes.

There is a big converted commercial jet dropping flame retardant and a “twin tail” doing water drops. Out now though.

I’m glad to hear they got it out already.

Glad to hear they got it out pretty quick Todd. We’ve had so many fires up in our area that we’ve lost count. The big one was about 20 mile north of us in Bayview, Idaho on the lake. A close friend moor’s his sail boat in the marina and sailed it out the day the fire started and stayed on the boat until it was safe to return. Pretty scary.

Out is good, very good! Now, let’s have it stay that way.
